FAQ

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

My rate is comparable to other psychologists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Session rates range between $250-300, depending on the service. Please contact me to discuss specifics. For private pay clients, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate due to the No Surprises Act.

HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. Initial sessions can be 80 minutes, if space is available. 

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

The only insurance that I accept is Lyra Health.

I am not taking new clients with Medicare Part B, as these slots are currently full. I no longer accept Kaiser Permanente's insurance of Carelon Behavioral Health (formerly Beacon Health Options).


For all other health insurance plans, I am considered an "out of network" provider. In such cases, I would collect payment from you at each visit. I can provide you a superbill (a detailed invoice with billing codes), for you to submit to your insurance provider, so that they can reimburse you directly. 


If you haven't already, I recommend confirming with your insurance company how much coverage they provide for "out of network" psychotherapy services. Typically, insurance covers between 20-80% of the session cost. However, some insurance companies do not reimburse for "out of network" providers. 

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

I reserve a limited number of slots with a sliding scale for those who qualify. Equity is extremely important. Please let me know if you identify as BIPOC, a woman of color, native or indigenous, trans, gender non-conforming, and/or LGBTQIA+, and I'll do my best to serve you.

DO YOU PROVIDE THERAPY TO COUPLES OR MINORS?

No, I only provide psychotherapy to individuals who are at least 18 years old.

DO YOU PROVIDE VIDEO OR IN PERSON APPOINTMENTS?

Both. I provide video visits as well as in person appointments in my office in San Carlos, California.

IS THERAPY A GOOD FIT FOR ME?

I work best with clients who genuinely want to heal and are ready to make changes in their lives. It’s ok if the process is slow and gradual. Baby steps are still steps!

 

I’ve found that therapy tends to be less helpful when someone comes in on behalf of someone else (e.g., "My partner wants me to be here") or if deep down, they really don't want to change.
